2018 Prosperity Fund Awardees
The NEK Prosperity Fund has been created as a result of work by NEK Prosper!, the Accountable Health Community of Caledonia & southern Essex Counties. NEK Prosper! is a coalition of the leading health, social service, housing, educational, governmental, and cultural organizations and institutions in the southern half of the Northeast Kingdom, an area that is encompassed by the service area of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
NEKCA’s Micro Business Development Program was chosen as a recipient and has chosen four female entrepreneurs to receive funding and technical assistance to help move their business to the next level. Each of these entrepreneurs is at a different stage of business development and are exciting examples of the creativity and innovation that exists within our region.

"When my oven broke The prosperity Fund helped me buy a new one so I could continue with my catering business. Amy Robinson's guidance and encouragement was instrumental in giving me confidence to take on more profitable events. Such as preparing 350 meals for diners at First Night North in St. Johnsbury. It is so wonderful to have the community support you when you are doing something you love and can still be home with your kids. Thank you!"

"The Prosperity Fund has supported me not only with much needed finances but also by creating a network of support between a group of businesswomen in the area. Working alone on my growing business, it means so much to have members of my community notice what I am doing and encourage my efforts to create something that will contribute to our area. The Prosperity Fund and MBDP have helped push me forward to a more successful future!"

"Receiving Prosperity Grant funds to purchase appointment software helped take my business to the next level by increasing the number of patients I see each week. As the owner and sole employee of my business, my ability to grow my business was limited by the time needed to treat patients and the need to schedule appointments. With the support of this software, patients now set up their own appointments online, fill out intake forms at home, and receive reminder messages about upcoming treatment visits."

"As a budding business I have been met with many challenges, and one of the largest had been the need of having the support of insurance to begin my practice. The Prosperity Fund assisted me in the essential step of funding an insurance policy that supports my business needs, and it has also given me the support to begin marketing my offerings to potential clients to lift off my business.
I am very grateful for this opportunity, which has given me the ability to take the vital steps to beginning my dream business, and has also instilled the empowering energy within me to continue growing and expanding."
